I downloaded this app because my phone got stolen. When you lunch the app, you have to scan a stupid QR code with your smartphone’s wechat account !!! You can’t just login with your username/password ! I can’t rate more than 1 star for this really bad idea. I thought the point of the mac application was to use wechat without using your smartphone. I must be wrong.

Its the worst app ever made: You cannot acce to your account without scanning with your mobile. What a shame!

The only reason I would ever want a wechat app on desktop is in case I dont have signal on my phone. The absurd login mechanism makes it useless.

Some people complain about the login mechanism but in fact, is one of the best features of the app. Removing passwords from your log in experience is probably one of the most important steps to secure your online interactions. Here is easy to ensure that only the legitimate user of the phone can login to the desktop App. Well done Tencent!

App mise à jour et toujours besoin du mobile pour se logger… vraiment n’importe quoi… Still needs to use the mobile to login, which makes this software completely useless…

My phone recently crashed and I must go get it fixed, but this will take some time. At first, when I saw the app for Wechat I was thrilled, this way I could speak to my girlfriend whom is out of the country. I installed it, and pop. QR code scanner. Requiring my not functioning phone to access to the application. I’m sure that the application itself is great, but it’s quite useless if you need a phone to access the app on the computer.

I was always using the WebApp to chat with my friends using a computer, and now the app makes it even better. Thank you very much for this, you guys rock!

i use wechat since long time on my mobile phone , now i use it also on mac , but why i can not change language , it’s only in chinese , if can change language , would get 5 stars

When starting the app, it shows a QR-code on screen and says „scan to log in“. What’s that? How to scan? How to create an account? No instructions on the website at all, nor in the app.

What a joke! My phone is broken so I want to install wechat on my macbook. It is asking me to use my phone to scan the code! Yea, how should I do that without a phone?!?!

well, i have no problem logging in by scanning QR codes. However, making this the only way to log in is kinda inconvenient and stupid. You should keep log in by QQ account or whatever. And, still no Moments? I don’t understand why Moments are kept exclusive to iOS WeChat. Last but not least, we should be allowed to import qq stickers to WeChat.

No way to enter ID and password to login other than this lame QR. Yet, if I scan the QR code, my iPad reports “You cannot log in on other devices via San [sic] Code pn iPad”. Message to WeChat team was ignored or not read by them!

New version disables login by user name and password, which makes this product useless and stupid.

I have no idea what happened! I cannot even log in now. I need to scan and cant use username and password?! This is unbelievable… Basically this application is useless for laptop...

My smartphone broke down a few days ago but I could still access WeChat thanks to my user ID. This has become impossible since this new update. As it is, this application has become useless to me. Please, fix this issue as soon as possible.

i just want to login on my laptop but not my cellphone. Now if i long out wechat on my phone it will log out on my laptop as well. useless and inconvenient! :(

Still can’t login with username+pw. What’s the point of this update???
