The point of using WeChat on the home computer is for when it is not convenient to use the mobile phone OR when the mobile device isnt available. So by requiring the mobile device to log in on a desktop or laptop seems to completely miss the point. But in truth, if you do have your mobile handy and can log in by scanning, then it works well. Nice to use a real keyboard.

This is a great app, sadly it’s servers are down, no idea why, just no connections from either app, Mac or iOS. Such a shame, good app otherwise :(

When dragging around, the window is often lagging and blinking. This is very annoying!

you need to take out your phone and scan the QR code to log in on a Mac, seriously? Did the developer try to test it at least once to feel how annoying this is?

I’m absolutely amazed at how worthless this is. The sign in needs your phone, which is well, weird. And once you are signed in - it gives you nothing. Just a list of your contacts. Previous chat history is blank. No ‘newsfeed’ (discover). It’s like they started to make this software, went for lunch and never returned… might be best to do the same :(

So I installed this on my MacBookPro expecting it to do the same as my iPhone App and there is just a text feature. Where are the rest of the features?

Others criticise this app for the sign in protocol involving mobile phone. Due to the financial functions of WeChat, I understand why they do not enable password sign in on non-mobile-phone terminals, as there are fewer external authentication tools. Nonetheless, it is annoying to require mobile phone. This app exists to allow you to write and read on a full-sized keyboard instead of messing around on your phone or tablet. That’s pretty much it, and it works. It’s convenient in that way, but also you can do it on the web version. This one just allows you to keep your browser closed if you do so desire.

Think about it. Why do people need to log into wechat in their computer instead of on their phones? It’s because their phones are broken/lost/out of power. The fact that to login on PC/Mac I have to use my phone to scan the QR code is simply ridiculous.

Why does it need QR scanning to login? Becuase it is a phone based communicate app and if you can login anywhere without your phone, tons of malicoius activities are waiting for you (e.g. manipulating location). I admit I want the Moment feature too, but what’s a big deal if there’s not? The purpose of desktop version is for releasing your hand off your phone when you are working on your computer meanwhile have to talk to somebody. What else do you expect?

The app has main functions of Wechat. However, does not have Me and Discover. Wish the company produce a full version that is exactly the same as on phone.

I could not even use fullscreen mode. The PC version already has video calls, voice message and synchronized gif library and the mac version got nothing.

QR code requried for login? seriously? One star is because the lowest rating is one star. Otherwise I would rather give no star for this one

wechat a very nice program but please add a history, videocalls, moments and personal emoticon.

I live in China and it is vital to have a Wechat account to communicate. I use it both on Iphone and PC without any problems. As someone said, the PC version still misses the “vocal message” feature which btw is definitely one of the best functions that Wechat offers to the users. What I am most upset about though, is the Mac version of the app. Not only doesn’t allow to send vocal messages, but even worse doesn’t make you do video calls or even send gifs stored in your phone! Could you please come up with an updated version soon? Thanks

This is great app to use with the mobile app, but I wish it can update sooner with more functions like video chat and audio chat. I hope Mac version can update faster.

予告状 wechat for mac is much worse than for iPhone, i don’t like it very much. The reason are as follows: first of all, when using this app, you must log in through your iPhone’s authentication, i think it very INCONCINIENT for users. What’s worse, WeChat for mac loses most of its functions which only exists on your iPhone, such as moments, drift… i am very disappointed because moments are playing an important role in our daily life. i hope developers can improve WECHAT FOR MAC!!! ---------怪盗キッド
