that’s the first thing that jumped at me… the conversations arent stored after you log out AND the history of conversations on the phone is not reflected on the computer app. as a consolation the other way round works (what i type on computer shows on the phone), but really, not having history on the computer as well makes this app nearly useless. on whatsapp it works!

WeChat for Mac isn’t just badly executed, it has some design flaws that make using it a really annoying experience. First and foremost, if you get a message on your phone, then decide to use WeChat for Mac because typing is faster, the message you just received doesn’t show up because there is no chat history. You need to confirm on your phone every time you launch the app. Why not just pair the phone and the Mac? And then there are the small thing that drive you crazy. Every time you switch you Wifi network or your computer goes to sleep, WeChat informs you that it lost the connection, and you have to click on “OK”. Often if I try to shut down my Mac, it is WeChat that fails to close, so my Mac can’t shut down. Usually it’s just because there’s some stupid alert displayed that can’t be closed by the system. Bad quality app, and no updates since I got the app about a year ago.

Honestly, I use this application on my laptop in school and it’s fine, it let’s me text from my laptop, BUT PLEASE. Why can’t you make it so that I can sign in with my name and password like on my phone? How hard is that? Whenever I lose my phone or it’s out of battery I wish you actually listened to the people using Wechat and made it so you DON’T absolutely need your phone to sign in. Just make the password thing an option. I beg you from the bottom of my heart. Help a sister out. Thank you.

everything is working good, but the chat history is not saved^ each time I enter it is empty field:(((

First and foremost, how do I make audio and video calls? Am I blind or nobody even use this function?

should try to learn, or even copy from the newly released whatsapp mac edition. This version is literally horrible to use.

Should have adpated to Yosemite.. El Capitan came out.. Still no update...

In theory, this would be a useful app. I could speak to virtually anyone I know in China with it. But I do not like this app at all. This is for two main reasons. 1. Phone authetication is the worst user interface idea ever invented. Must we really do this EVERY SINGLE TIME we log out of our Macs or briefly switch to our phones? Just trust us to use a password like any other website or app. 2. There is no chat history. It goes away every time you log out of the app. For business conversations, this makes it worthless, since you can’t go back and look at what you said last week about this or that project. Fix these and my opinion might change.

My girlfriend is a Chinese international student, and currently she’s spending summer break visiting her family back home. We’ve used WeChat a lot in the past but now that she’s on the other side of the planet it’s one of few remaining links we have with each other. My phone’s recently been havining some trouble charging so I thought I’d get this app in order to keep in touch with her. Boy was I in for a surprise. Phone login for a Mac app? Doesn’t that completely defeat the purpose? If I wanted to use wechat on my phone I’d be using wechat on my phone. Using wechat on my phone in order to use wechat on my laptop just does not make any sense from a functionality perspective.

Dumbest invention ever to only allow using the phone to scan the QR code to log in to your Mac Wechat .. !!! I forgot my phone in my friend’s house & wanted to text him through Wechat to get the phone back .. No way for me to log in !! So disappointing upgrade .

Please fix it

It’s pretty awkward that I downloaded this app in the first place; I ONLY NEED IT BECAUSE I HAVE NO PHONE. Why download this app on Mac when you have to login through a phone first? Why does this “Mac edition” exist after all, if you can use its full function on a mobile device?!

This is probably the single most retarded app i have ever seen. Not only do you have to log in with your phone EACH TIME YOU RUN THE APP, but you also can’t see anything that you or the person you’re talking to said previously, which makes no freaking sense. There’s no way to tell if it even works. Hell knows how this company makes money but you can help them make LESS money by not getting this app. WeChat is cancer. Don’t get cancer.

If you’re going to put an app out you might as well make it good right? The WeChat mac app is annoying, buggy, has no features, and worst of all doesn’t seem to be getting updated. When are you guys planning on making standalone login and adding in voice/video calls? This is really a pretty useless app right now. It even clears your chat history on shutdown.

I use Wechat on my phone for everything. It’s easy, practical and free…. It has a lot of features. However this application for mac is still quite basic. Okay it’s still new, and there’ll be more to come I’m sure but the basic are there and when the app works it’s just fine. What is more than annoying at the moment is how frequently it crashes. I would say that until there is a patch for it or an update you should maybe be patient. It will become as good as the app on phone soon enough I’m sure. Right now though, it’s not.

this app does not work simultanious on iphone and my mac. Each time I connect in one I am disconected from the other one. Hope some updates will come soon, other wise I dont see this app use fool

Nice application, but it’s not convenient to log in with the mobile every time. It could be nice to keep the history, as in the phone also. But it’s very useful to use it on computer instead of mobile.

Why isn’t it possible to log to OSX version with username and password? It is not even possible to do it with an iPad scanning the QR code… Useless
